Illuminate: Coding For a Brighter Future
 

Welcome to the Illuminate Hackathon, an event co-hosted by Code Your Dreams and Kit-Hub Burundi, where we invite brilliant young minds to help us shine a light on a significant issue – the challenges faced by the Albino community in Burundi.

At Code Your Dreams and Kit-Hub Burundi, we believe in the power of technology and its ability to bridge the gap between different communities. We are therefore calling on students across Burundi and beyond to use technology as a platform for change.

  • The Illuminate Hackathon is a week-long coding event aimed at developing an application that will support and uplift the Albino community in Burundi. This event is a unique opportunity to use technology as a catalyst for social good, fostering mutual understanding, inclusivity, and solidarity. Teams will consist of a diverse mix of students, both with and without albinism, united by their common passion for technology and their commitment to make a difference.

    • To develop an innovative and user-friendly app that addresses the unique needs and challenges of the Albino community in Burundi.

    • To promote inclusivity, equality, and mutual understanding between individuals with and without albinism.

    • To cultivate a passion for coding, problem-solving, and collaboration among Burundi's youth.

  • Whether you're a seasoned coder or a newbie interested in coding, we welcome students from all backgrounds and levels of experience. This hackathon is a learning experience for everyone involved, and we encourage those who have a passion for problem-solving and an eagerness to make a positive social impact to join us.

  • In addition to the invaluable experience of working in a team and developing a potentially life-changing application, teams will compete for several exciting prizes, the details of which will be announced soon.
