Women Building Change

Program overview

Women Building Change is a scholarship and mentorship initiative designed to expand access to technology careers for women from historically underrepresented communities. Through training in data science or web development, personalized mentorship, and community-based support, participants gain the technical skills, confidence, and professional networks needed to build sustainable careers in technology. Grounded in Code Your Dreams’ belief that access to technology education is a human right, Women Building Change transforms potential into opportunity—equipping women not only to enter the tech industry, but to shape it.

Our Launch in Burundi

Women Building Change launched its first international cohort in Burundi in 2023, expanding access to technology education in the region. The inaugural cohort graduated 30 women who trained with a professional data scientist, completed a capstone project in partnership with a nonprofit supporting people with albinism in Burundi, and received career readiness support.

By developing in-demand digital skills and applying them to community-centered challenges, participants demonstrated how technology education can drive both economic empowerment and social impact.

Program Impact

Women Building Change provides a structured, immersive learning experience that combines technical instruction, mentorship, and real-world application. Participants build portfolio-ready projects, strengthen problem-solving and analytical skills, and develop the confidence to navigate professional environments.

More than a training program, Women Building Change is an opportunity for women to build sustainable futures for themselves while contributing to a more inclusive global technology ecosystem.

Program Impact

Women Building Change creates multi-generational impact by:

  • Expanding economic opportunity and increasing earning potential
  • Strengthening gender diversity in technology fields
  • Equipping women with in-demand digital skills aligned with workforce needs
  • Inspiring future leaders and role models within their communities
  • Applying technology skills to address local social challenges

By investing in women, we invest in families, communities, and a more equitable future in technology.
